Los Lobos
Having started off as Los Lobos Del Este in LA back in 1973, Los Lobos have been subject to a rollercoaster ride of peaks and troughs during their thirty year plus career.
As well as drawing on their own Latin-American heritage, the band have had a number of influences creep in and out of the music as the years have progressed, taking in blues, rockabilly, jazz and salsa along the way as well as their more rock sound.
They may not have been as blatantly political as some of their comrades, but there has often been a social conscience in the material that the band have performed over the years. The band were involved in the campaign to get Obama elected.
As with any long serving band, there have been allegations of a dinosaur status, but their most recent cut, 'The Town And The City" showed that there was life in the old wolf yet. It still packed a bite and most importantly a bark.
Latino rockers have more of a history at Cambridge than you might think. Whilst this is Los Lobos first visit, the genre has been here before and on a hot summers day, it feels right at home.
